Yes, baseball season is finally here again! Yesterday April 5th, Bob and I went to the first Giants game we could go to (we never go to L.A., it's way too scary). It was a beautiful sunny day and lots of festivities. The Padres  celebrate 75 yrs of being a team and in the beginning they brought out some of their special players including a 93 yr old man who was part of their first team.

Giants lineup for 2011

San Diego is a Patriotic city! 

They also had the giant flag and the national anthem by San Diego native Jason Mritz (how ever you spell it) and a fly by with 2 F18's. It was pretty awesome. I love baseball games just to sing the national anthem and feeling proud to be an American. The giant flag was held by at least a hundred sailors in dress whites. I love the sight of our military, especially in large numbers and in dress uniform too.

 Madison looked great before the game. It's hard to throw strikes when the strike zone becomes the center of the plate waist high. He was fun to watch and I can't wait to see the pitcher he becomes.

The game started out great with the Giants in the lead but by the 3rd inning it fell apart. Part of it was Buster thinking he had a walk in the second and was called out. He had started for 1st. The ump took exception and then Madison paid by not getting many strikes called after that. Kruke and Kipe called the ump 'inconsistent'.
The Giants will do better once they gets some kinks out. It's going to be a good year and a fun team to watch. I love the Giants! I love baseball! It was a great day.

We did have a couple incidents close to us that were 'almost' fights. One was a spilled drink and the other a guy sitting in a late arrivals season ticket seat and other season ticket holders not appreciating it (that one beer and peanuts went flying before cooler heads prevailed)  and a few fans who were anti-Giants because the Padres choked at the end of the season but hey, it's all part of the game? Right?
